Community Learning
The Community Learning and Development Service in West Lothian is part of Education Services, West Lothian Council.
What we do:
- We provide learning opportunities for adults, local groups, communities and young people.
How we do it:
- 10 learning centres offering computer facilities and training
- Youth clubs, international exchanges and support groups for young people, with young people
- Support young people in developing their own ideas and thinking, and specific projects that young people are involved in
- Work with young people to develop their core skills
- Training for voluntary organisations and groups on, e.g: child protection; the roles of committee members
- Support Management Committees to develop their expertise and knowledge
- Classes run on a wide range of topics
- Help adults improve their reading, writing and numbers
- Run lip-reading classes for people who have hearing difficulties
