Microsite Nomination Guidelines

GOAL wants to encourage and assist local community/voluntary organisations within West Lothian to access ICT training and to develop their own websites. Priority will be given to groups with limited capacity in terms of available funding, skills or support from any parent organisation. It is envisaged that any assistance would consist of training, guidance on software, but would not include software and hardware purchase costs.

Organisations must complete a nomination form before they can be considered for a microsite. Completion of a nomination form does not guarantee that an organisation will be offered a microsite. Representatives from Voluntary Action West Lothian and West Lothian Community Learning and Development will review nominations and make decisions on which are priority groups.

Groups must meet the following compulsory criteria:

  • The organisation should be 'not for profit'.
  • The organisation should have a voluntary management committee.
  • The organisation does not have to be a registered charity but should be formally constituted to ensure accountability.
  • The organisation currently has no web presence and is unable to develop a web site due to limited capacity, lack of funds, skills or support from any parent organisation.
  • The organisation must be able to identify an individual who can attend the GOAL training and take responsibility for regularly updating the microsite.
  • The organisation must agree to the GOAL microsite content conditions.

To assess priority, organisations will also be scored using the following criteria:

  • Purpose of site;
  • Targets/Beneficiaries of the Organisation;
  • Location of Organisation;
  • Type of Organisation.

The scoring system bears no reflection on the quality of work carried out by the organisation.

Once a nomination form has been submitted to the Project Administrator, organisations will be contacted directly to arrange training. All completed sites must include a credits link to the main GOAL site. Any content contained on completed sites may be utilised and drawn onto other parts of the GOAL site.
