Graveyard Surveys

WLHAS members have formed a survey group to record the condition of carved stones in the area. Some of us were trained to do this by the Carved Stones Advisor from the Council for Scottish Archaeology. New members can easily be trained to join the group, which has been surveying stones in Ecclesmachan and Abercorn churchyards over the last few summers.

Abercorn churchyard will be finished this summer and the group are currently deciding what the next step will be. If you would like to join them, please contact us at: wlhas@yahoogroups.com

Amenity Consultants

WLHAS has a team of volunteer professional consultants who form the Amenity Team.

The local authority passes planning applications for listed building consent to our team for comment. Each member covers a different conservation area within the historic boundaries of West Lothian.

These comments are a valuable part of the planning permission process and help to conserve our built heritage.

Any professional architect or planner, retired or active, who would like to share the team's work is welcome to contact us at: wlhas@yahoogroups.com
